Sometimes it is hard to make sense of things and talking to friends and family isn't enough. I aim to offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can fully explore what is troubling you to bring clarity, empowerment and healing.
I am an integrative counsellor working one to one with adults aged 18+. I use person centred methods to build our therapeutic relationship, which means I hold you at the centre of all we do and you are in control of each session and what we cover. I can use Gestalt, trans-personal and cognitive behavioural therapies where appropriate to best support you.
Sometimes talking is difficult or just isn't enough. I can offer creative approaches such as using imagery, drawing or sand play to help you explore the issue you bring.
I work with a wide range of issues, including bereavement, health concerns, anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties. Sometimes it might be more of a sense of feeling stuck but not knowing quite why that brings you to counselling. Or perhaps you are contemplating a major life change and want some clarity on your decision.
Volunteering for North Devon Hospice and working in GP surgeries as a Social Prescriber has provided me with particular experience in working with issues around health, palliative care and bereavement.
I am diversity-aware.
Notice the butterfly on my logo? It represents transformation and hope, and is an image clients have brought to counselling themselves as well as one that resonates for me when a client ends their counselling journey because they are ready to move on. Its four wings also represent Mind, Body, Soul and Emotion, all parts of self that, when connected, help us achieve wellbeing.
Qualifications
I have a degree in Psychology, and have completed a level 4 diploma in integrative counselling (CPCAB) and a level 5 diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling. I regularly undertake courses to improve my knowledge of specific issues and improve my skills.
